What About the Green?

Since the green coins weren't used in the previous quilt, I have loads of them on hand but almost no white strips and relatively few yellow coins left. While I can certainly sew two green columns together, I want to show a three-color quilt at the demonstration.

So I added a row of blue coins...

and sewed a quick top.

Chinese Coins VII duplicates CCVI but covers all my bases -  mixing prints, adding a strip square, changing column widths, ruler cutting the sides, and using three colors. Having both at the demonstration should highlight all these points.

I never realized how hard teachers work to prep a class.

Enjoy the day, Ann

The Q101 attendees are going to absolutely love your demo and appreciate all your behind the scenes prepwork. Yes--all that prepwork is why I aim to make smaller samples & quilts!! I can pack in more variety and options that way! ;-)

You've accomplished showing 3-colors with your CCVII sampler - the attendees will be inspired! Great photos, too!

At least you have got all your examples ready now. I like the current version and it will be good for your students to see the yellow coins working in different settings.

Yeah, it's a lot more than the actual class, BUT! Once you've done the prep, you can teach that class over and over. Your coins look great.

Your family reunions and summer (non) vacations must be interesting.

You are very smart. I now see why your quilts are frequently small. Much easier to cart around than a bed-size quilt.

I didn't realize it was analogous until you mentioned it. Thanks.

Thanks. I was glad to create a a model that actually met all my requirements and is still easy enough for beginners.

It does how my lesson when I focus on exactly what I want to demonstrate. There should be less wandering off topic.

Yes. I will hold on to these for a while. They took quite a bit of time and illustrate these specific points. Plus I like showing options.

Thanks, Millie. I see now why teachers make and keep samples. It would be too much work to constantly remake them and you'd never have time to do anything else.
