Bars 4 Quilt Finished

Cathy's 20 minute method is working well for me. Forty minutes total is about all I can do in a day. I like moving two or three projects along, especially when I can only work for short times anyway.

The back used up larger remnants and some extra strips. Always a win in my book.

With so many bright colors in the top the only binding that looked right was a dull tannish brown chambray. Ok, several of the darker brights looked good but there wasn't enough yardage. As usual with the size quilts I make it took over half a yard. Note to self: occasionally purchase more than half a yard in order to have binding choices.

Basic straight-line quilting with the walking foot is still my preferred design. These strong graphics don't need competition. This time, the stitching runs across the quilt. Perhaps that will keep certain gentlemen from breaking the threads as they pull the quilt up. {Naming no names.}

Very nice quilt. I love all the colours in it. I hope the direction of the quilting works to keep it there.

I love this quilt! The binding color was a great choice too.

Excellent!! And that pieced back is fantastic -- adds so much to the quilt. I agree about less fussy quilting for this style of powerful (yet humble) quilt. Well done on all levels.

this looks like something I'd see in an art museum. Simple bold yet quiet, strong design. And made to use!

Love the strong graphic look to this quilt! So very gorgeous. Your comment about making a note to occasionally buy more than 1/2 a yard of fabric for binding usage hits close to home.:)

Thanks, Lisa. These are some of my favorite colors. I had no idea how it would come out.

Thanks, Patty. I like the mud brown binding, too.

Thanks, Julie. These quilts look so good with similar colors front and back. I need to remember that in future because there's certainly lots of fabric in the stash.

Thanks, Helen. I enjoyed working with solids. I forget about quiet bindings. This one works very well, doesn't it?

Thanks, Lynne. Fun, easy, and a good way to start working with solids again.

Thanks, Linda. I had fun playing with the fabric pairs.

Thanks, Audrey. It was fun to make. We must be two of a kind about binding. I'm always short of yardage.

I like the 20 minutes habit too, and I'm glad it is helping you to make progress as you recover. The more of these you make the more powerful they seem to become. Like Audrey, I need to make the same note about binding.

I may continue this when I get better. It's a good way to keep several things moving. And I'm coming to like scrap binding because I run out so frequently.

Oh, I think I have a new favorite!

You're so funny, Karen. Thanks.

This one really sparkles...and the backing is a fun design/use of leftover scraps!

The two step process was educational. Fairly easy to make pairs but harder to decide how to fit them together. I moved them around for days. In other words, oodles of fun.
