I sewed the selvedges to batting and backing first. Without your method, I would have had to zigzag very widely to hold the circles. And they wouldn't have held long anyway.
Good to be back in touch, Lara!Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12922656955543465650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-231509571353812426.post-61359400321667078902016-07-27T10:21:12.950-05:002016-07-27T10:21:12.950-05:00Do you remember the old joke, "If you have al...Do you remember the old joke, "If you have all the feathers you can hold, can you hold another?" Selvedges are the same way. If you're a Star Trek fan, you could think of them as Tribbles.
This is my favorite way to make a pillow. No buttons for a baby to swallow and a decorative back when it gets tossed around.Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12922656955543465650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-231509571353812426.post-33040571972571282652016-07-27T10:19:02.102-05:002016-07-27T10:19:02.102-05:00Ooo. It will be a treat to see what everyone else has been doing. Originally it seemed there would never be enough; now there are way too many. But... they make great pillow backgrounds.
I always made pillows with overlapping backs, too. But the placket (and fabric change) enticed me to try this one. Let's not stand too much on classification here. Utility or improvisational or free-pieced or free-cut are always good. Definitely anything that is the maker's original design.
Chrissie has detailed instructions on making an entire pillow. I just use the zipper part. But I love the way it turns out. It's so nice to install a zipper first.
Thanks for linking with AHIQ.Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12922656955543465650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-231509571353812426.post-46211424504893100862016-07-27T08:56:28.785-05:002016-07-27T08:56:28.785-05:00So glad to see you here posting Ann.
