A Very Special Pi Day

Carpe diem! This past Friday was National Pie Day in the States. Quite delicious. But another Pi Day (3.14159...) is coming in March. This year we'll see 3-14-15. Quilters can celebrate by making quilts with circles instead of (or in addition to) eating pie!

New York Beauty blocks, 2000

These blocks were tucked in my stash along with some fabrics I planned to use. Pi Day is the new deadline. Propellers and the curve pieced tops should be quilted by then, too. Lots of pi for me!

What about you? How will you celebrate Pi Day?

Enjoy the day, Ann

  1. I love the colours in these blocks! Hadn't heard of Pi Day, but now I will have to think about quilting something with circles (and pie of course).

    1. It was a math/science celebration in high school. Now it seems like a good excuse to look at curves in quilts. A good reason to party, though.

  2. Oooh! Love these NYB blocks, this is down on my "list of quilts to make" but when I'll get around to it I really don't know!
I shall be looking forward to you reaching your deadline with another colourful post.

  3. I've never heard of Pi day either, or Pie day for that matter! These blocks are gorgeous Anne, I love the colour range and the way you've picked up the triangle theme in some of the prints too. That's a love of quilting you'll be doing over the next month or so, I'm excited to see it all!

    1. Oh, Americans celebrate anything. My husband was delighted to realize we married on National Donut Day. He thinks he has every anniversary present pegged. I like the colors on these, too, and am mystified why this was set aside (or buried.) Time to get on with it.
