This should have been a three-hour job but with all the skipped stitches and repeated rip outs it's taking an unlimited amount of time. The machine is desperately in need of a tuneup. Fortunately I have a Featherweight for piecing if not quilting.

DeleteOMG, I'm having exactly the same problem right now, Ann! I hate unpicking quilting, especially when the stitches are tight. But, I'm going to see if I can clean it out myself before I take it in!
ReplyDeleteMine is usually so dependable. I'm always sad when anything goes wrong. I keep it cleaned and oiled regularly but always hate when it's time for a tuneup. Can't stand to "not have it."

DeleteWish I could send my hubby over. He's a great machine mechanic....and works cheap! The problem is that there could be so many things that can cause skipped stitches. Maybe just take it in and work on the Featherweight. It means delaying your quilt but that's better than the frustration and stress. Work on some piecing and quilt when it gets back. Of course, this is from someone who's been without a machine only once, so I maybe I shouldn't be giving advice. lol Hope it's resolved very soon!

DeleteOh no, I'm sorry that you're having machine issues right now. Hopefully your main one gets fixed soon. (Mine is probably due for a professional cleaning. I can only get so much of it clean.)

DeleteI feel your pain. I have suffered from tension problems for over a year and had it in for fixing twice in one month so broke down and bought a new one after the fix it guy told me I shouldn't sew so much. No more tension headaches from tension problems now!

DeleteOne of the things I hate about machine quilting, ugh! Hopefully it's just something like the timing being out and it can be fixed up quickly :) (ps I removed the first comment because a few typos made it sound like gobbledegook!)
