Quilt Show Ready

As you know, there are so many little details before a quilt is truly finished: burying threads, binding, label, sleeve (if it's in a show), washing, blocking. But finally, all three quilts are ready for the SCVQA quilt show March 14-15 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.  It's not judged; simply a way to share what we've been working on the last two years. And Bay Area Modern has a section, too. If you're in the area I hope you will come.

My entries are Round Robin Improv (workshop), Curved Improv and Propellers and Planes. There's no room in my house to get a photo of the entire quilt. Hopefully I can get one at the show. And that will be my last photo of this quilt. Promise!

Now to clean up the sewing room, relax a bit and then see what I can do with those New York Beauty blocks. Don't forget Pi Day! 3.141592653... translates to March 14, 2015 at 9:26.53 AM. How are you celebrating?

    I have never had to make a quilt sleeve yet.:) Important details but probably a bit tedious! Kudos to you for getting your quilts all ready for the show. They are absolutely wonderful!

      Thanks, Audrey. They've taken so long. I've enjoyed it but am glad to have them completed. (I hate sleeves. Supremely boring but useful.)

      Thanks, Kris. It's more an exhibition since the quilts aren't judged. My favorite kind because people talk with each other about their quilts.

    Love this quilt design! The scrappiness keeps my eye moving around the quilt, as does the design. Just beautiful.

      Thanks, Ramona. There are many scraps from quilts I've made over the years for family and friends. That makes it more special to me.

    I didn't realise you were working to a deadline, but congratulations on getting all three done. I love this now it's finished - it's got that lovely scrappy feel but it all holds together really well at the same time. The different sized propellers work really well and I particularly like your pointy edges.

      I didn't have a deadline until the end of the year when the show seemed like a reasonable time to finish them. Without it, they probably would still be WIPs. Thanks for all the compliments and encouragement throughout this whole process.

    I can't wait to see this in person. I love the different sized props and may try and add one in to my steampunk quilt also!
