Strips and Curves quilt using Drunkards Path template |
Why does my computer quit whenever I'm out of town? I'll resize the photos when I can... Here are some detail photos. It was loads of fun to find and add the different animals. Jaguar and giraffe.
Tiger.
Zebra.
Family issues continue to take all my time so I haven't done anything new. But hopefully you have utility and improvisational quilts to share. Be sure to check out Kaja's Sew Slowly for a good read. See you next month.
Enjoy the day, Ann

Your DP quilt is amazing! Love the way you fussy cut the animals. Hang in there with the family issues! I am going thru that too right now and hoping for the best.
Those strings really do make the quilt glow, Ann. Great use of the template! I hope you are taking care of yourself as well as everyone else. Best wishes to you all, and have a great summer!
OOO!! I LOVE This! I realize that you have other priorities right now, but someday I hope you are able to add a quilt gallery to your blog of all the quilts you've made. This is gorgeous! And sorry if this is a stupid question but what is meant by a utility quilt?
Amazing blocks those!
Take care do : )
I'm sorry you're going through this, too. I wish your family and you the best.
Thanks, Janice. I used to add my quilts to tabs at the top but have gotten behind. There are some, however, if you want to look. A utility quilt is one that made to be used. Traditionally they were made of used clothing and very simply quilted or even tied. Warmth and necessity were the driving forces. Kaja makes some lovely ones.
I'm blessed to have the best family members. The situation is tragic but spending time with family is a great consolation.
Thanks.
I love the overlapping circle effect. The animals are a fun surprise. Best wishes to you and your family.
Love the way the placement of light and dark works on this, and all the animals hidden in there. Best wishes to you and yours.
Wonderfully colourful and I love the addition of the animal prints.
Sending my best wishes to you Ann, also to family.
Love the detail.:)
Ann, I never see a quilt of yours that I don't love. The way you used quilting to echo the strings is wonderful. And your use of value and color - Monica is right; the quilt glows!
I'm so sorry things have gotten worse and the situation is tragic. But very glad that you are blessed with a good family. That makes all the difference. We miss you here in blogland!
This quilt has so many things going for it that I'm not really sure where to start. The strings that echo animal characteristics may be the most interesting, but the entire quilt--fabric placement, color, detail--it all just sings!
Keeping you and yours in our thoughts and hoping that you can rejoin us soon.
I love the animal prints and how you were able to recreate the illusion of zebra stripes through an assortment of black & white prints. Such an interesting quilt top!
