The light/dark shading highlights design changes so there are almost endless ways to set log cabins. In fact, they are the same ways you can set HSTs.
One yard of a Jane Sassaman print is extended with men's shirting leftovers purchased in NYC several years ago. The finish on the shirting material makes it shimmer like polished cotton. It also makes it wrinkle resistant and cool - the opposite of flannel, very welcome in hot Texas.
I'm not as happy with the free-motion quilting loops I made on the lights. The darks were ditch-stitched with a walking foot.

What a great finish! There's nothing quite like a good log cabin quilt is there? So much work for you though!:) Not getting much done on the improv. front lately. Will have to knuckle down and see what I can come up with!

I am amazed at how many of these log cabin quilts you've made! It was nice to see them all. I really like the all-light blocks and the sense of space they give in this layout. Great finish!
It is good to see various ways to set blocks. I'm glad you like the all-light blocks as much as I. They add an open-ness to the design.
Another fab version Ann! And I remember the star version too, it was good to see it again. Your backing fabrics are always so inspired: the plaid reminds me of being cosy and warm beside a stove in a cabin and the leaves remind me of the forest the cabin is obviously situated in! (I have a fertile imagination!!). Wonderful as ever :)
Thanks, Stephie. I enjoyed making all these variations. Funny about the plaid. It does look warm but I chose it because it blended with the other and because it has a shiny, cool finish. The opposite of warm. Ha! You do have a fertile imagination; look at all your fabulous work.
