Pi Day 2021

It's Pi Day, the only time American dating makes more sense than European style: 3/14. Time to review all the circles I made this year.

My largest circle quilt was the Wheel although it's not back from the longarm quilter.

I also appliqued circles on several quilts including the String Tulips

and Mars on my newest grandchild's Christmas stocking

and the Shadow Star sashing. The eight-pointed stars also look circular, probably because they are drafted with radii, and arcs.

Speaking of eight-pointed stars.... I finished Lone Stars

and LeMoyne Stars

and a string star. I'm counting all of them as circles.

We're having chicken pot pie with apple pie for dessert. What about you?

Enjoy your pie, Ann

The pi quilts are wonderful! Your dinner sounds yummy! I had salmon. Looks like I need to get some pie.

I love that last quilt. It is just so striking. We’re having deconstructed peach pie. I have bags of peach pie filling in the freezer and I’ve learned that if I just thaw it and put it between two crusts I get a pretty soupy pie. So now I cook it until it’s thick,in a large kettle, and we spoon it over previously made pie crust squares (sprinkled with cinnamon/sugar). The crust never gets soggy. It’s a bonus.

A gorgeous collection of quilts. Those star quilts really sing out to me.

I look forward to Pi Day annually now. Good excuse to eat lots of pie and think about circles and arcs. They aren't that hard to sew but I get lazy sometimes.

Thanks, Julie. I hope the Wheel comes back soon. Ready to bind and use that one.

Thank you, Marie. I've wanted a wheel quilt for years and am glad I finally made one. Now to try some more.

I forget who started Pi Day but it's fun to celebrate. Like May the Fourth.

Salmon sounds great, Patty. We've had trout a few times this month. It was a lot of pie but the chicken pot pie was deconstructed with just a circle of pastry on top of each serving.

Thanks, Robin. It was an attempt to use up all my strings. I'd like to make another some day.
The chicken pot pie was deconstructed now that it's just two for dinner. Make the filling and put a circle of pastry on top. Like you, I hate soggy crust.

Thanks, Linda. I like star quilts, too.

I'm going to have to make a large string star quilt one of these days! And eat some PI!

Such fun to see your Pi interpretations! We commemorated with cherry pie.

That will be fun!

Yum. Cherry pie sounds even better. I love cherry jam.

So many great quilts! I adore the Wheel quilt and the Tulip string quilts especially. Every time I see your snowball border makes me want to do another one!:)

We ordered pizza on pie day because there was some promotion to honor the day. Regardless, it was nice to see all your "circle" quilts again :-)

Ann said...

You sparked that snowball border with your own... which I still think is even prettier. Perhaps we'll both do it again soon.

That's what we should have had. Yum!
